Who's staffing your booth?

If you are considering building a new home, visiting a local home show or home expo is a great way to discover new products on the market, see demonstrations, and talk to experts.

The booths at home shows are typically staffed with expert craftsmen who can answer complex questions and troubleshooting. They don't mind sharing knowledge, especially if there's a good referral in the making. The goal for the hands-on exhibitors is to provide guidance to their potential customers and earning some credibiliy.

Often shows are staffed by the actual business owners. Many of them can and do negotiate a project right then and there, making it all the more profitable of a marketing investmemt for them. The business owners are there for relationship building, especially the kind they can generate through in-person interactions.

There are also the people in a booth who are there to help with customer engagement. They hand out the giveaways, answer basic questions, distribute literature, gather contact information for leads, contests, email newsletter signups and more. They're there to smile and make sure no booth traffic gets snubbed or missed while the experts and business owners are talking to other potential customers.

An emerging member of the show team is a kiosk, providing demos, advertising, photo galleries, surveys and more. These may be in the form of an elegant self-contained design, or a simple laptop with a monitor.
