5 traffic-inspiring ideas for your next home show effort

You never have to worry about traffic at our home shows -- always busy as expected. It's what you do in the weeks leading up to the show (and even in the year before) that helps to drive your home show ROI.
5) Invite attendees to participate in a videotaped trivia session involving home improvement, gardening, etc. The best clips can be shared on YouTube for promotional purposes. Make sure the participants willingly allow the sharing of their video. In doing so, they can then get a coupon book for 12 promotions to use throughout the year - and make them good deals -- word of mouth will spread around the show!
4) Speaking of YouTube, record some or all of your booth's sessions, capture the excitement of your audience, and use the videos to give people of what to expect should they visit next year.
3) Don't give away throwaway crap. Most trinkets end up in the show literature bags and then in the garbage can. Give away labeled water. Everyone needs to stay hydrated. Another idea is a pack of gum with your branding on it. The gum would be something which lasts beyond the show.
2) Take advantage of all the social media profiles and visibility you can manage. Interact with your followers and invite them to stop by your booth. Tease them with a contest on Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest and encourage them to spread the word to increase their chances of winning. Tell them they need to stop by your booth to qualify as a final step.
1) I've said this one before, but it needs to be reintroduced often as it's one of the more critical components in a winning show. Train your staff! Make sure they are properly prepared and know what to expect. Make sure they're well versed in your promotions and on the same page with your goals for the show.
