From KitchenMagic.com's "history" page:

Everyone loves a good story, especially when it’s their own. So, alright, since you asked!

It all began way back and long, long way back.

It was 1979, the Hamilton Mall, in Allentown, Pennsylvania… Jost Fleck dreamed of possibilities. A clever, if not terribly romantic sounding idea had captured his imagination: cabinet refacing.

Jost or “Joe” as he preferred to be called, recognized it for what it was; a fantastic way for most homeowners to afford the new kitchen they thought was beyond their budget. And THAT—was an idea with real legs.

His wife Reine and their three girls helped him open a tiny, low budget basement office he nicknamed the “Mole Hole.”

He soon discovered his ‘headquarters’ to be so flood prone that any heavy rain would have furniture bobbing around the room. Waterlogged or not, Joe was consumed with this one idea.

He wagered everything the family had on the chance that his personally designed full- page newspaper ads would make the phones ring. Joe made his first sales on the power of his enthusiasm and conviction alone.

As he worked from his second-hand desk (yes, we still have that old desk), Joe co-coordinated the installations of the very first Kitchen Magic kitchens. Believing that customer referrals would be better than any advertising he could pay for, he promised and delivered stellar results. Joe developed something completely unique in the industry: the Lifetime of Home Ownership Warranty.

And so began the Kitchen Magic tradition of over-delivering on promises. If every good story should have a moral, this one might be…with hard work and passion, anyone can overcome the darkness of a ‘mole hole’ and step into the light of success.
