How to properly staff your home show booth

I've assembled a list of quick tips for properly staffing a booth and getting the most out of your investment in our home show marketing:

- Make sure the staff you have working the booth are actually excited to be there and eager to help promote your business.

- Keep your staff in on the fun! Hold a contest for the staffers who gather the most leads or have them perform a self-evaluation and vote on the "most outgoing marketer".

- Hand out training material well before the actual show. Your less experienced staffers may appreciate some "inside knowledge".

- Make sure your objectives for the show are clear and measurable. Communicate past success as well as your expectations.

- Your troops will appreciate you being there in the trenches with them. Lead by example!

- Train your staffers not to be overly aggressive, but to be friendly and inviting for a casual conversation which may lead to business.

- Encourage staffers to tour the other booths, looking for interesting promotional ideas, potential business partners, and to take note of which booths are the busiest. These "hot spots" reflect industry trends!
